Frequently asked questions

How do I autofill Passwords on my iPhone?

You’ll first need to enable autofill passwords for your phone. You can do this by logging in to the LastPass app (after you’ve downloaded it from the iOS app store), click on Settings, tap Autofill, enable autofill, then tap on Open Settings – which will bring you to your iOS device’s Settings.

In your Settings, tap Password Options, enable AutoFill Passwords, disable iCloud Passwords & Keychain and choose LastPass as your primary password autofill feature. The next time you need to log in, tap anywhere in the password field and select the login credentials you want to autofill. If you have multifactor authentication like Touch ID or Face ID enabled, you’ll be prompted to authenticate before your credentials are auto-populated.

Where is autofill in iPhone settings?

You can enable, disable, and choose your preferred third-party password manager for autofill in your iPhone’s Settings app under Password Options. If you’re looking for passcodes or passkeys you’ve already saved to your iPhone, those can be found by going to Settings and tapping on Passwords.

Once you’ve enabled LastPass autofill for iPhone, you’ll be able to autofill your login credentials by clicking on the password field at log in and either tap the credentials suggested at the bottom of the screen or the top of the keyboard. If you’d like to choose another option, you can click on the key icon, which will bring you to your vault.

How to generate a new password on iPhone?

Open the LastPass app for iOS, log in, and complete any authentication steps (SMS code, Touch ID, Face ID) to access your password vault. Once logged in, tap Security at the bottom of the screen and select Password generator.

The LastPass password generator will create a strong password for you, which you can then copy and use to create new, safer credentials. Simply copy this password and use it to log in or, once saved to your vault, autofill it with LastPass.

How can I retrieve saved passwords from iPhone autofill?

If you’ve saved any passwords to your iPhone, they can be found in the Settings app under Passwords. You’ll find all your stored passwords here, which you’ll have to manually copy over. If you’ve saved your passwords in Safari or to iCloud Keychain, you’ll be able to export those directly for import into your LastPass vault.

How does LastPass differ from Apple’s password management on iPhone?

Compared to Apple Passwords, LastPass supports access to your password vault across all device types, operating systems, and webpage apps – you’re not limited to iOS and MacOS devices – to provide you with a simplified user experience.

Enhanced security like a master password and robust multifactor authentication and passwordless login options help you keep your passwords safe from bad actors, as your vault will only ever be accessible and visible to you.
