Frequently asked questions

Is the Firefox password manager good?

While the Firefox password manager is a convenient option for Firefox users, it’s not the best free password management solution available.

Someone looking for enhanced password security, management, and sharing features will get much more out of a standalone solution like LastPass Free.

LastPass Free gives users an encrypted password vault protected by a master password – which only the user knows. They can store essential documents inside of their password vault as well as enable security features like two-factor authentication and dark web monitoring. LastPass’ paid plans take password management even further, allowing users to protect their whole digital life, wherever they go.

How do I enable LastPass autofill in Firefox

First, you need to download the LastPass add-on for Firefox. Once downloaded, LastPass will appear in your Firefox add-ons. Click on the LastPass logo to open your password vault – and create an account if you haven’t done so yet.

Once you’re logged in, LastPass is prepared to autofill your passwords when you need to log in.

How do I export passwords from Firefox to import them to LastPass?

  • Go to your “Settings” in Firefox > “Privacy & Security” > “Logins and Passwords” > “Save Logins”.
  • Open your Firefox browser and go to “Settings”.
  • Click on the “...” button in the top right. From the drop-down menu, click on “Export Logins...”. Confirm you want to export your passwords and choose where you’d like to save the file.
  • Open your LastPass add-on in Firefox.
  • Select “Advanced Options” > “Import”  > “Firefox”.
  • Either drag and drop the file containing your exported passwords or select it by browsing your computer’s files.
  • Select “Import All” to import all your passwords to LastPass or select only the passwords you want to move over.
